INDUS Celebrates Women’s History Month by participating in the Department of Transportation Small Business Day.


Brandon Neal, director, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization welcomed over 100 participants.  He quoted the Secretary of Transportation, Anthony Foxx, “when women succeed – transportation succeeds.”  Victor Mendez, DOT acting Deputy Secretary, discussed the importance of transportation in business.

Susan Kurland, DOT Assistant Secretary, Aviation and International Affairs, discussed young women working in transportation and the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics program. Ann McNeill, Founder, National Association of Black Women in Construction, emphasized creating jobs in transportation.

Marianne Markowitz, Acting Administrator, US Small Business Administration discussed the 5% goal for women-owned businesses and the three “C’s:” (1) Capital, (2) Contracting and (3) Counseling.

INDUS’s Senior VP Paula Ewen and Senior Solutions Representative Dan Martinez participated in the event. Companies lined up at the INDUS Corporation exhibit to discuss teaming opportunities.  Everyone had a productive and successful day!
