Press Release: INDUS Receives $9+ Million NOAA Contract

INDUS will continue to support the National Severe Storms Laboratory

VIENNA, Virginia, (October 15, 2009) — INDUS Corporation, a leading Federal IT solutions provider, announced today that it has been awarded a new, multi-year contract by the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL), a component of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Under the contract, INDUS will continue to provide support services for the management, operation, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems in support of NSSL’s research, operations and training missions. The contract is valued at $9 million, with additional funding up to $8 million for special projects.

NSSL works to improve the lead-time and accuracy of severe weather warnings and forecasts in order to save lives and reduce property damage. NSSL scientists seek to understand the causes of severe weather and explore new ways to use weather information to assist National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters and federal, university, and private-sector partners.

"This award reflects the value of the partnership we have built with NOAA / NSSL over the past six years," said Shiv Krishnan, INDUS’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to strengthening and expanding our partnership to enhance its capabilities to provide accurate and timely forecasts and warnings of hazardous weather events."
